We always feel privileged to be selected to photograph military families.Matt is being deployed this week so they had a rush job to get these photos before he left.We always feel more emotionally attached to these families after meeting and spending some time with them and appreciate the sacrifices they are making for all or us.

Beach photography tips

Here is a few beach photography tips for those  lucky enough to be heading south for spring break.
     1)Try to shoot either early or late in the day.The midday sun is very harsh on the beach and makes it very difficult to get good exposure,so lay around the pool or beach until the sun drops low in the sky for portraits.I really love that late afternoon glow for portraits.
     2)Shooting on auto mode will usually underexpose because of the brightness of the sand and water.It freaks your meter out and gives a bad exposure.Swith to manual if possible and shoot a few frames to see what looks best.Set your aperture to f16 and adjust shutter speed to see what looks best.Bracket 4 or 5 shoots.
     3)Use your flash to add a little fill light to faces when the background is bright or if the the group is wearing hats.It also helps eliminate shadows under the eyes.

Spring????

     It's official.spring starts tomorrow.But looking out the window and listening to the forecast i think somebody made a mistake.We usually start our outdoor senior sessions in mid April,right after spring break.So hopefully the weather will cooperate.Really excited about the upcoming year for the class of 2014,lots of new ideas and locations we want to try.And if  you haven't had your 2013 senior pictures yet there is still time before graduation.
    All you lucky people heading south for spring break,and yeah i'm seriously jealous cause i really need some quality beach time right now,have a safe and fun break.

Here we go.

Finally got around to looking at this blogging thing and a little lost but will improve with practice i hope.On our blog we will posting some our faves from sessions of all types.We also will post personal photography that we like.We will give you photography tips to help you become a better photographer,let you know of any studio news or specials that are coming up.All of it will be fun and sometimes completely not related to photography at all(rants and faves about products,basketball,restaurants,travel and concerts or anything else we like).
